Francios Viljoen
Gen-Z Vineyard Project Manager and Viticulture Consultant
As regional manager of the consultation department at Vinpro for 19 and a half years, Francois realised the value of the sharing of technical know-how and practical information between viticulturists, vineyard managers and researchers. In 2019, he took on the role of Project Manager in order to focus on the development of the project and rolling out of demos in the winegrowing regions. Francois’ belief that “seeing is believing” forms the basis on which the GEN-Z Vineyard Project was founded.
Emma Carkeek
Gen-Z Vineyard Project Viticulturist
With a background in research and winemaking, and an interest in holistic vineyard systems, Emma Carkeek joined Francois in 2019 to assist with the development of the project and the implementation of the extensive network of GEN-Z demos. Together with Francois, Emma is responsible for the implementation and management of demos in commercial vineyards and the facilitation of grower demo sessions.
Zahn Haasbroek
Gen-Z Assistant Viticulturist
Zahn has a love for all things related to wine, with a special interest in Viticulture. Her experience in day-to-day farming activities, allows her to realize the value of researching viticultural principles and how important practical implementation is. Zahn joined Emma and Francois in 2022 to assist them with all things related to the GEN-Z project.
A project of this undertaking/nature is not possible without a team of experts, enthusiastic participants and support from individuals and companies eager to collaborate. The contribution of our colleagues in the Consultation Division of Vinpro together with growers, external viticulture advisors, suppliers and nurseries is key to the success of the project.
