Cover crops
Cover crops make a number of important contributions to the development of healthy vineyards. Apart from directly competing with weeds, cover crops assist in building soil organic matter levels which has a number of indirect benefits such as the improvement of soil structure, water infiltration and retention and the encouragement of microbial diversity.
By implementing cover crop demos in our winegrowing regions on a range of soil types, under different climatic conditions, we hope to provide some practical guidelines that will equip growers to make the best decisions when selecting cover crops for their site.
